To whom much is given

An example of this saying is my garden club. The other week we are facing the prospect of a further meeting to discuss the options because the bid for the dream bed is simply too high. Then we learned that the coordinator has looked back on the grants we have received and we had twice the amount of funding that we thought. So now we have everything that was in our dream garden.

But it reminds me of what a preacher once told me … God does not let you win a lottery if you know that you destroy. The truth is that many lottery winners end up bankrupt within five years … no matter how many millions of people. As with many small and emerging scholars of charity, if you have anything you think you need for your work, which could destroy it.

Occasionally, as in my garden, start a new charity with a mission to fulfill its vast resources, but this organization can be almost as dangerous as not enough. If you do not take the time and every time they undertake to structure its organization, its unexpected can become their undoing.

All of this points to the importance of leadership and management as a sound basis before fundraising. It’s like the old adage of putting the cart before the horse. So what’s the horse?

In this case, staff from the community garden:

1) We have a constitution or rules for the group yet.
2) We have no elected officials.
3) Or even a clear mission.

As for my small group, we are committed to the long process of building a strong organizational structure to enable further fundraising and function, not only for this year or next, but for many, many years. Our vision is to create a pro-type of community and sustainable agriculture and can be copied to other council estates across London, the United Kingdom and the world. Small thinking? Not me!

Therefore, if you will imagine that the challenges facing their small charity if someone gave him a white, non-profit? Do you have the commitment and skills to overcome these challenges? So begin today to address them, so you’re ready for the blank check when it comes.
