This nonprofit organization was conceived in the Philippines in 1995, the day after Christmas. It is the baby of a couple of Christ, a Christian community. The FTC has held a youth camp in a shaded area in Caloocan City that day. It was then that the first ANCOP Foundation was created as a response to the needs of the poor, first meand to reach young people outside the school said that adults in the area. That was his meager start. But right now, ANCOP is the group of partners who are responsible for the financial support GK. Then, four years after the germ of this idea grew, first open house was built in Caloocan. The term Gawad Kalinga (in English care) was created to give this new vision of housing for the homeless.
After being registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2003, GK was formally launched during the anniversary couples for Christ. Tony Melot, one of the visionaries of GK earnestly spoke to thousands and thousands of CFCs from all over the country about the great vision of Gawad Kalinga. This vision was called GK777, a project to build communities or seven thousand seven hundred thousand homes that were erected within the next seven years.
This is the way GK started. These are just humble beginnings have been highlighted by the most audacious visions. This is truly one of the most successful campaigns against poverty in the country. The boldness of vision is perhaps the thing that makes this campaign work. GK exists thanks to the labor provided by volunteers who help build houses and keep the community through education, medicine, livelihoods and seminars. Your financial life is the blood provided by donors who give large sums of money simply for charity.
There have been several successful campaigns launched by GK. In 2006, the project started GK Million Builders. This is a promotion to create more momentum for voluntary work in GK sites. At this time, no other charitable organizations out there that can boast the same accomplishments that GK holds. Now GK has built thousands of homes for poor people in hundreds of separate communities in the Philippines. Most of the organizations assisting the poor sporadically, or offering help when natural disasters or disease outbreaks. GK, but has provided a radical new model that is sweeping the nation.
At present, GK has a new vision. Last June this year, GK launched in Boston, Massachusetts, a new crusade. Gawad Kalinga Philippines The new vision is nothing less than the total elimination of poverty in the country until 2024. This new crusade, like GK777 is very bold. Deliberate on a shoot so that even if the results fall short of the goal, it would still be quite significant. And if one of the things based on previous results, this project looks to be very exciting and promising for the books.
