Nonprofits Taking questionable donations – Ethics and Integrity Topic

by benny on August 13, 2009

Nonprofits say they will take money from anyone who wants to donate, and maybe it makes sense, however, when that money came from the ill-gotten gains, and the donor donated anyway, which actually belongs to that defrauded people out of it.

Lately, there have been several high profile cases (Madoff case, for example) non-profit groups, which had already spent the money were forced by lawsuits and the courts to return the money that was given to them less by ethical fraudsters.

Thus, one could conclude that the non-profit groups, but really want to search for gifts, but also better be careful in the future to take this money, otherwise it could bankrupt after it spends the money and are required to pay in some way around. But how on earth will know?

Well, the reality is that sometimes I suspect that sometimes they know, but most often have no idea, and probably do not care or do not want to know, not a simple "Thank you" makes more sense, especially for a cash strapped non-profit group during difficult economic times.
