Eight ways to raise awareness with a special event.
Be aware that special events can lead to an organization. This article is about other ways, less time intensive and expensive ways to bring positive publicity to a charity.
1. White Paper: doing research, providing information, conducting a specific study to the work of the organization. Compile, print, hosting a press conference, as the web, blog and twitter about it and distribute as widely as possible.
2. Seeking recognition: There are many opportunities to apply for awards, with and without monetary compensation. Look around your community and on the web.
3. Giving recognition: Create or give a prize to the margin of a special event to recognize a volunteer, donor, staff member, community leader. Hold a press conference. Ask the Mayor to declare "Organization of days or a day in honor of the person or company.
4. Create a media list: Be smart, keep relationships going. Invite the press to cover events. Send information about them. Apply for a non-profit of communication when they need information or an appointment. Keep asking, get noticed.
5. Create a newsroom: Each website nonprofit, where a newsroom. This information is accessible to the press when they need it, even when the office is closed. Publish press releases, fact sheets, information about the organization and leadership.
6. Speak at meetings: Pro-actively offer to speak at Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary meetings. Become an expert in community meetings. Advocate for the organization, mission and people.
7. Answer: Write letters to the editor in response to news, legislation, events impacting the organization and customers.
8. Collaborate: Work with other nonprofit organizations on issues, legislation, responding to events and raise awareness.
